25th July 2010 Dan Dalton news1.jpg 2nd Annual Anchor Bay Charity Kayak Fishing Tournament On Saturday, August 7th 2010 michigankayakfishing.com and thekayakstore.com (Div. of Great Lakes Docks and Decks) will host the second annual Anchor Bay Charity Kayak Fishing Tournament with all proceeds going to benefit the Michigan 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk.
The event is open to participants of all ages and skill levels with a division for families and youth, grand slam (multiple species) and largest individual species. The event is a “CPR” kayak fishing format. CPR is “Catch, photo and release”.

Fish are photographed with a digital camera by the angler while positioned on a measuring board and anglers bring in their camera at the “virtual weigh-in”. All fish are released immediately after being photographed. Prizes are awarded for the largest individual species, grand slam and largest fish landed by a youth.
2009 was the first year for the event and despite persistent rain, 13 anglers registered fish but many more won raffle prizes. “More people won prizes in the raffles than prizes awarded for fish categories” said Wolf Vonmueller, one of the event organizers and a member of the Michigan Kayak Fishing Team. “You can’t go wrong with this event because it is casual, lots of fun for everyone and it’s for a great cause”.
Kris Dombrowski of the thekayakstore.com added “all prizes are donated and a raffle ticket is included with each registration”. “Last year we had a great mix of participants including Factory Pros (who accepted no prizes) kids, ladies and people who had never even fished out of a kayak”! Everyone had a great time.”

Entry Fee: $20 per person in advance / $25 day of event (CPR) Catch Photograph and Release Format. Join the fun and help a worthy cause! Prizes awarded for longest fish; raffle prizes tooSee here for complete details and registration forms.
